The 2023 CPR and AED basic lifesaving skill educational training for faculty members and students of CPU

In order to improve the first aid skill of faculty members and students and to acquaint them with the operating procedure of AED to meet the requirement of the safe place certification (the goal of 70% of staff completing the training), Central Police University (hereinafter referred to as CPU) held “CPR and AED basic lifesaving skill educational training for faculty and students” on February 6th, 7th, 20th, 22nd, and 24th, 2023. CPU especially invited Zhe-xiu Wei and Yong-zhu Hong, who are advanced professional first aid instructors from Taoyuan Fire Department, and officer Zhi-yi Dai from Emergency and Rescue Command Center of National Fire Agency, Ministry of Interior. The educational training was a success.

There are 1441 faculty, staff and students in total in CPU, and 1271 of them enthusiastically participated in the first aid educational training. The participation rate is 88.2%. There are 341 faculty members, 278 of whom participated in this first aid training. The participation rate is 81.5%, which meets the requirement of the safe place certification (the goal of 70% of staff completing the training).

The course includes detailed description about cardiopulmonary resuscitation related knowledge and skills, the operating procedure of AED and actual practice. After the instructor’s instruction and demonstration, the participants all indicate that they are willing to lend a hand and use the skills learned to seize the golden three minutes and to save a precious life upon encountering emergency. After all, to save others is to benefit ourselves.

CPU kept epidemic prevention work on going during the educational training process. Teachers and students who participated the training session all wore masks and took their temperature. Eating and drinking were prohibited during the training and alcohol hand sanitizer was provided at the gateway and the venue. Those who were having symptoms of cold or fever were prohibited from participating and were asked to seek medical attention. The educational training was an absolute success. The teachers and students participated in the activity enthusiastically and all realized the benefit and importance of CPR and AED. CPU will continue to promote the education and training of basic life-saving skills and to improve the first aid skills of teachers and students to maintain the goal of campus safety!
